March was a month of great discoveries. I bought a ton of make-up and almost everything was of amazing quality. I found it really hard to prepare this shortlist of my ultimate favourites and a number of good products were left out.
I fell head over heels in love with the new L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation (1). It offers good coverage combined with natural matte finish that doesn't require any powder and lasts throughout the day.
I also got a number of small contour palettes and honestly couldn't decide which one I liked best.
Smashbox Contour Palette (2) consists of a contour powder, a bronzer and a yellowish highlighter, all of them matte. Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow (3) on the other hand has a satin warm-toned all-over bronzer and a shimmery champagne highlighter. Marc Jacobs #Instamarc in 40 Mirage Filter (4) is a duo composed of a yellow highlighter and a cool-toned contour powder.
On my eyes I enjoyed neutral matte browns from Charlotte Tilbury The Sophisticate palette (5) and when I wanted a pop of colour I reached for the turquoise blue shade from my Marc Jacobs eyeshadow palette in Shoegazer (6) layered on top of browns and blended with the cool-toned brown from the same palette.
Throughout the month I used a smudgy, smoky liner and L'Oreal Color Riche Le Smoky eyeliners (7) can't be beaten for that purpose. They're soft, smudgy, saturated with colour and have a convenient sponge that makes a perfect blending tool.
Max Factor Masterpiece Transform Mascara (8) was my perfect bottom lash mascara. This stuff does not budge. It's also nice on my upper lashes, but it can be difficult to remove, so I mostly used it where I needed it most. It also has this super skinny wand which makes it so easy to reach the bottom lashes.
And my favourite lipstick was Marc Jacobs Le Marc in Infamous. The formula of this lipstick makes it one of the best lipsticks in the world together with Nars Audacious and Charlotte Tilbuty Matte Revolution. The shade is a muted mauve rose which looks gorgeous for spring.
My greatest skincare discovery was Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream which is a perfect daytime moisturiser for oily skin. It's lightweight, absorbs instantly and leaves my skin matte and prepped for make-up.
FAILS
In a month full of spectacular discoveries I stumbled across two products which can definitely classified as fails.
Dr MJ Real Mucin Restore Cream reminds of snail mucin so much that it becomes too gross to use.
Bourjois Nude Sensation foundation offers no coverage at all, so what's the point of wearing a foundation?
Which one you prefer the smashbox contour kit or the marc Jacobs?
ReplyDeletethanks for your answer :)
They're sort of similar, both are densely packed and offer great shades to contour and highlight. Most people long for banana shades for highlights, so Marc Jacobs is the winner here. If I were to choose I'd pick the Smashbox palette as it's very similar in terms of quality, but its more versatile, takes less space and comes with its own brush, which I find perfect for contouring. Marc Jacobs has a much prettier compact, without doubt.
