Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow in Taupe Brown #07 review

Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow in Taupe Brown #07

Ever since a friend of mine bought for me a Burberry blush in Peony in Harrods, my love for the brand has been immense, even though I didn't have many products. Now my collection has grown to the blush, a couple of eyeshadows and my love for those classy, superior quality products has only increased.
It goes without saying that the design of all Burberry products is an outstanding one.
The eyeshadow comes in a cardboard box which has a texture that looks as if it was linen-bound, inside you find a little velvet pouch, with Burberry check print, which protects the actual eyeshadow from damage or scratching.
The eyeshadow itself comes in a dark pewter metal case which also bears Burberry check pattern on the lid, the same as the actual eyeshadow inside. There's also a small and useless sponge applicator.

When you browse the net for Burberry eyeshadow, the shade that is mentioned most often is Midnight Brown, which seems to be everyone's love. I did intend to pick that one, but it was unavailable at the time so I picked Taupe instead, in spite of the fact that not many bloggers have ever mentioned it. This remains a mystery to me as the shade is one of the prettiest and most unique taupes I've seen and taupe seems to be one of the most popular neutrals among beauty fanatics.

When the eyeshadow arrived I was pretty much surprised at how dark it was. The swatches I'd seen before buying the product looked way sheerer and therefore lighter. In reality this seems to be one of the darkest taupes in my collection. Taupes have countless variations, ranging from pinkish tones, through warm-toned bronzey ones  to purplish or brownish shades. This one by Burberry has a strong gray undertone, some may even call it greige. It's matte, but not dry and flat. It's beautiful and matches my cool-toned complexion pretty well.
The eyeshadow is called 'sheer' but I can see nothing sheer about it. It's beautifully pigmented, it makes a lovely eyeshadow to be used all over or just in the outer corner.
This eyeshadows blends like hardly any other does and produces no fallout.
Texturewise, the eyeshadow is neither powdery nor creamy. The brush picks the right amount of product with a gentle touch, no need to scratch or dig, but there's definitely no creamy feel to it.
I have oily lids and never apply eyeshadows without primers, when ysed over Too Faced Shadow Insurance the eyeshadow lasts all day in the summer heat without creasing or fading.

The Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow is a wonderful choice for any taupe lover. It's also a great eyeshadow qualitywise. It didn't cost more than a single Dior or Chanel eyeshadow, but the quality, design and shade is far better. My collection of Burberry singles is definitely going to expand.
