Dior single eyeshadow in Purple Show ( 156) - review & swatches

Dior single eyeshadow in Purple Show ( 156)
I bought this eyeshadow in search of the perfect purple, which would be neither too eggplant like nor look too much like lilac or lavender. My quest is not over cause this one is nothing near what I wanted, it looked so much different in the shop. But I must say I'm not disappointed cause it's such a gorgeous colour!

The shade very definitely belongs to the eggplant group, but it's not as dark as other shadows of this type so it never looks like a dark shadow of no particular colour (which is the case with other dark purples that I've got). The shade doesn't also verge on blue or pink colours, which is also good.
In the sunlight you can see slight holographic shimmer, which is almost invisible once the shadow is applied. I would describe the finish as satin or almost matte.
The shadow is not madly pigmented, but it builds up nicely if you apply a couple of coats. This is a powdery eyeshadow, but not chalky, it blends perfectly and there's no fall out whatsoever.

I'm glad I've bought this shadow. It looks very nice with black eyeliner and even nicer and more original with aquamarine or vibrant blue. But I'm still on the hunt for true purple eyeshadow. If you know any, please let me know!

  1. Has it more blue undertones or more violet-pink undertones? (I love purple undertones since taupe grise makes my blue-green eyes pop, that´s why now I look for the perfect purple too!)

    1. Oh, definitely no blue undertones. It's more of of this pinkish, reddish plum purples. The swatch looks more true to life cause in the box it looks like it's got some grayish cast which certainly is not there.
