VERSACE VANITAS perfume review

VANITAS by Versace is a gorgeous fragrance which I had the pleasure of testing.
I'm hopeless at describing smells so I'll limit myself to saying that it seemed beautifully flowery to me without being sickeningly sweet. This is the smell I look for each spring and I'll seriously consider getting a full size bottle next year.

For those of you interested in what the manufacturer says about the fragrance head notes smell of roses and freesias, heart notes of osmanthus (whatever it is) and tiare flower, and the dry out notes are those of black tea and cedar wood. The perfume belongs to floral, woody and musky family, which is exactly my type.

This would be a perfect perfume for me if it weren't for a tiny little hiccup. Vanitas, just as many other fragrances by Versace, doesn't wear very well on me. My perfume doesn't need to be overpoweringly strong but it must be long-lasting. From dusk to dawn is a must, but I really appreciate it when my clothes still smell nice the next day. And the top performers are those which still linger on after I've washed my tees or scarves. Vanitas is neither of them. I have a feeling that it evaporates within a couple of hours. Perhaps it's just the problem of my nose.

  1. Osmanthus is also called Sweet Olive, and yeah, I like for my perfumes to wear longer on the skin, too! Thank you for the review.

    1. Aww, thank you for your comment! It makes me realise how poor our vegetation is here in Poland!
