Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser review

Although I'm very much drawn to luxury brands, I must sadly admit that rare are the cases when luxury cosmetics would win over the drugstore ones in blind tests.
However, there are instances of products that differ substantially from the popular brands in quality, innovative approach, ingredients, performance and, of course, price. And Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser is one of them.

Eve Lom is marketed as a morning cleanser but in fact it's something inbetween a face mask and a facial oil. The balm-like substance is quite thick in consistency, you need to warm it up in your palms and then massage it onto dry skin, then leave on for 2-3 minutes and rinse.
The balm is packed with natural oils and other healthy ingredients and it's supposed to gently remove dead skin cells and stimulate collagen production. I didn't have the impression that it exfoliated my skin much, but it felt incredibly soft and smooth. I even used this cleanser around my eyes and it left the area looking sooo moisturised and fresh!

At first I worried that this amount of oil wouldn't agree with my naturally oily skin, and I expected my make-up to melt off my face. Quite the contrary. After splashing my face with water the oily residue disappeared and the cleanser made my skin look and feel smooth and fresh without feeling oily.

The only thing I didn't quite like was the smell. You have to bear it, I suppose, when you deal with natural ingredients with no essential oils or artificial fragrances. I didn't find the smell particularly unpleasant, but I'm one of these women who are lured by beautiful, floral or fruity scents no matter whether artificial or not.

You may ask whether you need to cleanse your face in the morning after having washed it thoroughly in the evening. Yes, you do. When you sleep your skin gets rid of toxins which need to be subsequently removed in the morning by washing your face. Whether you need a separate morning cleanser is another question as this is a matter of personal preferences and the funds you want to devote to skin care.

Generally I'm sold. I would consider getting this cleanser in spite of the insane price tag. I'm sure this would last me for ages as a little goes a very long way. But there's a tiny little hiccup. This morning cleanser is a godsend for women who don't hurry in the morning. I wake up at 6.30 to get ready, feed and dress the kids, drag them to school and I can't imagimagine wasting 3 minutes of my precious time parading with a cleanser on my face, no matter how beneficial its results may be. I might consider it, however, as a holiday treat next year.
