Estee Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator and Day Wear cream review

I received these two samples as a pair in one promotional booklet so I used them together to see how they work as a combo.
The first impression after applying the Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator was more or less like aaaaarrrrggh. This serum has high content of golden pearl which is meant to illuminate the skin, even out the tone due to the light-reflective properties. It made my oily skin look like uber glowy oil slick in the very instant. But, to my huge surprise, within a minute or two it dried out to a kind of matte and luminized finish. Contradiction in terms? Yes, I know how it sounds but this is exactly how this thing feels on my face. What's more it made my skin look and feel soooo smooth. It feels like a very good quality primer which improves the look of my skin. I fell in love with this product, even though it's not meant for my skin type and it didn't make my discolouration or redness diasppear.

Then, as instructed, I applied the Day Wear cream, which again seemed at first too oily for my skin type. It was quite thick in consistency and smelled of cucumbers line many products within the line do. However, it applied sooo smoothly and made my skin look as if I'd used a primer. It takes a while to absorb, so I am a bit concerned about the length of time I need to wait before applying my make-up and in the morning rush I cannot afford to waste a minute of my time, but the result offered both by the combo and the Day Wear cream alone is well worth considering. What is more, the cream has SPF 15 which makes it a perfect face cream for eyeryday occassions.
I tested a sample of cream for normal and combination skin, which was quite well suited for my skin type.
