Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil review

I bought  Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil for oily or combination skin because although my skin is oily I sometimes feel I need to nourish it better at night time to compensate for stripping my skin of moisture during the day by using tons of mattifiers, primers or nothing at all.
When I saw the product description (below) I thought it was something for me.

What I like about the product is that it is a combination of natural plant oils packed in a nice clear glass jar with a dropper that reduces product waste and allows to handle such a liquidy substance well. Although packing oils onto oily skin is always a kind of risky business, I've never experienced any breakouts.
As  for fulfilling the claims the matters are much worse. The oils don't absorb immediately. Using this product under make-up is out of the question, and even at night I feel most of the product lands on my pillow.
I haven't also noticed any balancing of sebum production or purification. As I've said, this doesn't break me out, but it doesn't purify either.
As for refining my skin, this issue is worst of all. The thing is that when I wake up in the morning, instead of being nicely smooth and plumped my face feels swallen.

I will use this up in due time, it's a decent moisturiser, but if you measure the quality of a product by how it fulfils its claims, this one is a major failure.

EDIT:
I wrote this review a couple of weeks ago and while it was waiting in line to be posted I continued using the oil and one day I noticed the most peculiar sediment on the bottom forming white bubbles on the bottom and the product becoming cloudy. The product is definitely not past expiry date, smells all right and I've never seen anything like this forming in oil. Not quite sure what I'm supposed to do.

Disclaimer: I bought the product myself for my personal use and I am not affiliated with any company. I am not paid to do this review and everything I said here is my genuine opinion.

  1. I got a sample of this a while back and I don't think I even finished. I like the idea of facial oils, natural ingredients, all this... but I didn't get any special results and also found absorption just... not happening well enough. I have an oil that is similar but I really feel my skin softer with it, so I tolerate looking really oily and bringing that to my pillow in the evening but with this one I just didn't want to...

    1. Exactly, this is exactly what I think. It's pricey, so I feel determined to use this up one way or another, but I definitely don't recommend this to anyone!
