Rimmel Rockin' Curves mascara by Kate in Eye Rock Sapphire review

When I got my original Rimmel Scandaleyes Rockin' Curves mascara I didn't expect to like it as much as I actually did. I thought the brush too gimmicky and I'd never enjoyed a single Rimmel mascara, so I got it only for the sake of experimenting with something cheap. To my surprise the brush actually worked, the formula was ok and I got nicely coated volumised lashes.

So when I saw its Kate variation that came in a much prettier packaging and in this most unusual sapphire blue shade I just couldn't resist. Unfortunately this didn't repeat the success of its predecessor.

Of course the brush is the same and it does the same job reaching everywhere and coating all my lashes with mascara, but the formula is on the gooey side which causes clumps that are difficult to brush out without ruining all my make-up.
The sapphire shade is not as bright as in the picture below. It's more of a gray with a blue tinge to it. This doesn't transfer onto my lashes as a bright, noticeable colour not does it offer them the definition of a black mascara.
The good thing about this mascara is that, just like the original one, it doesn't tend to smudge or crumble and it requires absolutely no effort to remove. I use oils, but I believe a good couple of splashes of water would do.

Overall, this is a mascara that requires too much work in the morning and the results are quite unpredictable. The final result isn't worth the effort.
Meh.

    1. I'm not sure if getting this one is a good idea if you don't like the original one. I don't think it's going to do anything spectacular, but I do agree that the shade is pretty and tempting.
